Phoenix Fashion Week Launch Party | Recap

Phoenix Fashion Week is the largest fashion event in the Southwest! The first Phoenix Fashion Week event of 2017 concluded on Friday night, and it was SO exciting to meet contestants who are in the running to be awarded designer of the year and model of the year! Every year, designers and models undergo rigorous challenges to be casted into this competition, and are narrowed down to fifteen emerging designers, and forty prestigious models! Who will win the ultimate title of designer and model of 2017? The competition runs for 3 months, where competitors undergo boot camps and challenges leading up to the winning designer, receiving the grand title of Designer of the Year, with more than $10,000 of goods and services! Two models are awarded Model of the Year, and receive a full contract at Agency Arizona for the Male and Female winner!  This is one of the best opportunities for contestants to get firsthand experience in the fashion industry, and will gain exposure that will advance their brand and careers in the lucrative and competitive fashion business. The event was hosted at one of the newest elite lounges in downtown Scottsdale, the luxurious Ellure Lounge.

When we first arrived, there was a lot of buzz and influential attendees socializing at the event! The area designated for media to meet and greet with fifteen emerging fashion and jewelry designers was jam packed, discussing their collections and inspiration behind their vision and work. There was a DJ setting a social atmosphere with house music, where journalists and bloggers discussed with the designers about their work, and photographers capturing all of the excitement.  It was interesting to experience and understand the ideas behind the work of these designers and how their hard work and creativity deserve to be discovered and recognize, and this competition is ideal to publicize these designer’s brands.

After lots of excitement and mingling it was finally time for the show to begin. An announcer introduced the top 40 male and female models as photographers and bloggers worked to get the best shot of the models walking out on stage. There was also a giant screen next to the stage that accompanied each model with their head shot so that the audience could get a closer look.

The purpose of this event is to introduce the models and designers running for the honor of Phoenix’s best creative fashion designers and models. This competition is one of the best ways for anyone to gain exposure and insight on the fashion industry, and these challengers will have the opportunity to get their foot in the door and expand their careers in a competitive business. All and all, we loved being apart of this event and we can't wait to see where the future will take these models and designers!
