Working out. We all have to do it at some point in our lives. In high school I took a weight lifting class and I decided I loved it the minute my HS BF told me I had buff arms. Which I'm sure were just super skinny (with a little pump) because I was growing like a weed.
After high school, I really got into aerobics. Aerobic classes were pretty much the only group fitness classes that existed in rural Missouri. I was in Cosmetology School and I couldn't wait to get out everyday and rush to gym (since the class was only offered once day, I couldn't miss it).
My love for physical activity even survived my LA party-girl life. No matter how hungover I was, I would still make it to morning Yoga at Runyon Canyon and climb the side with the stairs. My hungover Runyon days have turned into Soul Cycle mornings after two glasses of wine at happy hour made me book the 6am'er (and we all know you can't cancel that $32 class within 24 hours).
Now, I have a love/hate relationship with working out. Because now, if I miss a day (or 2 or 3) it shows. Not only do I get super moody, but I also lose muscle quickly and gain a few pounds. Not that I've ever looked super fit or anything, because I haven't, that's just not the way it works for me and I'm ok with that. But I don't gain weight in the places I used to... it goes straight for the midsection and it's not cute (nor is it healthy). So to maintain, I eat healthy 80% of the time and I work out at least 4 days a week.
Anyway, now, I'm 30. Working out is just a normal part of my life. I find myself loving group exercises more now than ever. I'm a woman. And the room is filled with women, some are like me, some are not. But everyone in the room is there with the same thing in mind. You really feel connected and like you are part of something bigger. We struggle together and all leave smiling.
I love to keep my body guessing, because that's the only way to break the barriers between your weight loss and that plateau.
I'm currently doing a combination of MegaReformer Pilates, Yoga, Hot Yoga, Barre, and Cycling.
Everyday is a new day and I love to wake up not knowing what workout is waiting for me!
Classpass has allowed me to mix it up whenever I want and it's cheaper than any of the memberships in the area.
I'd love to hear about your workout preferences and the new classes you're taking?
