I love having fresh flowers in the house! It makes a space feel so much happier and lived in. I grabbed some flowers from Trader Joe's the other day when I realized my only vase already had flowers in them, and I was definitely not ready to throw out my cute peonies!! They were still so fresh! LOL. Anyways, I've had a bunch of milk bottles lying around the house from a bridal shower I helped put together a couple years back. I think they are so cute but I never knew what to do with them. Until yesterday anyway when I was feeling desperate and I realized that I can totally use them as vases!! But of course, I wanted to customize them a bit, so I picked up some paint to give them a pop of color. I love them! They make great centerpieces for a party or just look good placed around the house.
This was also probably the easiest DIY I've ever done. I feel like I've said that before... but this one literally took .2 seconds and the end result was the cutest thing. Also, if you don't happen to have a bunch of milk bottles lying around the house then you can pick some up at Michael's craft store while you are grabbing your paint!
Here's what you'll need:
- Milk bottles
- Paint
- Disposable plate
- Disposable bowl
Here's what you'll do:
- Pour quite a bit of paint into your bowl. Enough for you to easily dip your bottle into. Basically the more paint you pour, the deeper you can dip your bottle. Keep it shallow if you just want the tops dipped, or deep if you want the bottom half covered.
- Dip your bottle! Get creative! You can dip it however you want. (I wanted an even dip on the bottom so I put a hair tie on the bottle at the halfway point and only dipped until I reached the hair tie. Then once the paint dried, I snipped the hair tie off.)
- Put your bottle upside down (paint side in the air) and let it dry! I'd suggest letting it sit overnight.
- In the morning, fill your bottles with some water and pop your flowers in! I promise you're going to LOVE how cute they turn out!
