OUTFIT
I have been in a stripe mood for several years, but this year, even more so. This year was triggered when I bought a Ralph Lauren button down followed by a Proenza Schouler swimsuit cover up. And a few years ago I bought and wore my most favorite dress (see below) but since explanting, it doesn’t really fit me anymore!

WINE
I like to pair my winter stripes with a bold and beautiful bottle of Faust 2019 The Hour Syrah. This beautifully balanced blend comes from Coombsville in Napa Valley. The grapes are planted on volcanic soils and their distinctive character comes from the vines struggle for water, nutrients and ultimate survival. Considering the diurnal temperature shifts, there’s no doubt that this contributes to the grapes beautiful color and concentrated aromas. Reading the Faust website, they believe that these things are the makeup of this beautiful expression of Syrah that is so uniquely balanced.
This is a true Syrah with spiciness and cherries. There is definitely a meaty component that gives it bold savoriness to pair with heavy proteins. It’s a perfect match for holiday cuisine, and of course, stripes that carry their own.
