NYFW + Sassoon

WHOA. New York Fashion Week blew my socks off. I'm so excited to share this amazing experience with you guys.

Despite the sideways winds and ice/rain, I still managed to look OK. I packed a GIANT suitcase and wore about 10% of it. Both flights TO AND FROM NYC were cancelled and delay after delay happened. But, I guess that's what you get for traveling to New York in the winter.

I also woke up the first day with a giant zit on my forehead, that was nice! But, at least I got to wear this beanie everywhere.

The highlight of my week was at the Vfiles Runway Show in which I was a guest of Sassoon. Sassoon Salon and Michael Forrey lead the direction of the runway hair styles (which were AMAZING) btw. And then recreated them on me a few days later. That video is coming! But for now, all we have are pics!

One beautiful day in NYC, it was warm-ish and I got to flaunt my ankles a bit and wear my favorite leather jacket.

The streets were filled with beautiful women in unusual and interesting outfits and the restaurants and bars were packed. The winter storm did not slow down this NYFW!

The VFILES FW17 Show was incredible. These designers are really pushing the envelope and thinking outside the box. Since this was my first show at my first ever NYFW, I really didin't know what to expect BUT I did expect it to be a bit more snooty and unwelcoming. I didn't find that here, though. It was a very intimate setting (even though it was located in Times Square) and it seemed intentional.

Chicago’s Joey Purp made a debut along with ATL rapper 21 Savage, who closed the show with his hit, “X”.

The show highlighted the collections of three up-and-coming lines: Daniëlle Cathari, Snow Xue Gao and Strateas Carlucci, designed by Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci. They were selected from thousands of submissions by the VFiles team and a group of mentors, who this season included makeup artist Pat McGrath, stylist Mel Ottenberg and designers Jerry Lorenzo and Tommy Hilfiger. And Sassoon Salon's Michael Forrey lead the direction of the hair styles.

I took a little time to explore the city with my husband after my work was done. New York never gets old. I had never been ground zero, on purpose, but I toughened up a bit and did it this time.

We stayed right across the street from my favorite little spot in Little Italy called "The Butcher's Daughter" .... it has everything a health nut like myself could ever want with a good balance of coffee and wine.

We took a night out with an old friend and played a little. Beauty & Essex has the swankiest little bathroom, I was obsessed. They literally serve champagne in there.

I also ran into an old coworker/friend from SF in NYC! We had coffee and none other than The Butchers Daughter.

I had such a fun time with Michael and his team recreating the runway looks! Make sure to stay tuned for the video we created!

On our last night in NYC we visited some dear friends for dinner at their place. We also got to meet their very small, yet, full-grown pup!
