Pre and Post Trip Anti-Inflammatory Soda
Who are we kidding? Before a trip, we all want to get ourselves in order and look our very best. And when we travel (ok, is it just me?) we swell and get bloated. So by the time we arrive we look like a MESS.
I'm going to Paris on Tuesday and there is one thing I don't want to be when I arrive; BLOATED. Nope, don't want to be fluffy.
The same goes for AFTER a trip too. Lots of indulging and [carbs]... I need something to whip me back in gear. Shed the gluten-pounds and make me normal again.
I travel a ton so I've created several rituals to get in front of that water-weight disaster! I'm happy to be sharing this one with you today.
This version takes FIVE minutes. Warning: it's not for the faint of heart. It's for the serious being that really wants to get ahead or on top of this problem. If you are not fond of these ingredients, I recommend starting slow. It's an acquired taste and you will love it and crave it after time.
1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 whole ginger stem or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon gound cinnamon or 3 cinnamon sticks
1 can of Spindrift Sparkling Grapefruit
or
3 tablespoons of grapefruit juice + 1 cup sparkling water
1 cup filtered water
Break apart the ginger and put in the bottom of a tall glass. Fill the glass with ice and then add the other ingredients. I recommend adding the water last to help mix the powders. Stir or shake!
Voila!
If this if your first time drinking a concoction of this sort, you might want to consider adding a teaspoon of date sugar. It's an acquired taste so the more you drink of it, the less you will need sweetener... and the more you will like it!
Drink it anytime you're feeling sluggish, but especially before and after travel.
