in my makeup bag

I'm probably a makeup-aholic. But on a normal day I stick to like five staples and that's it. I love looking and feeling natural and in order to do that, I use good, quality makeup efficiently. If I'm going out, my makeup is the same but darkened up.

My skin is important to me and I want to keep it as healthy and youthful as I possibly can.

My favorite step on my makeup application is applying moisturizer. I love to use an oily, heavy moisturizer on my face right before I apply my foundation or primer because I love how dewy and soft it makes my face look. Plus it adds a layer of protection between the skin and the makeup.

I love Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer with spf 20 because it protects my skin from damages from the sun and leaves your face illuminated. If my skin is looking a little less than great, I will stick some of this on before the gym. It's light and no one can really tell you're wearing it. I like to wear it daily anyway because of the sun protection.

I wear the tinted moisturizer for a night out too - after applying Peter Thomas Roth pore putty primer to my face. I LOVE that stuff! It really fills in the fine lines and pores to create a flawless look.

Then I add a little Laura Mercier concealer under my eyes to hide my dark circles. And if my skin is broken out or red for some reason, I will spot treat with a little Laura Mercier silk creme moisturizing foundation. This blends well with the tinted moisturizer without dulling the illumination (and covers like no other).

Right now I'm using Bare Minerals Powder to lock it all in. I love to contour a little with the products down below, but my favorite steps are when I'm illuminating.

Anastasia Beverly Hills makes all my favorite contouring sets. But the one I'm obsessed with the most is the Glow Kit. Not all contouring is meant for real life.. just because it looks great in photos does not mean it looks great when you're sitting next to your friend at happy hour. This stuff is subtle yet so dramatic -- it's hard to explain. A few swipes on your cheekbones, neck, forehead and nose will leave you highlighted in all the right places making real life and photos extra shimmery. I even throw a little of this on with my day-to-day makeup because YOLO.

Since I'm a California girl at heart, I'm always using a little extra bronzer on my cheekbones to stay on brand. It's just my look and it's not for everyone, but since I'm not big on colorful makeup, I feel like it gives me a little extra VAVOOM without the red lipstick.

If I'm going out I'll add a little Nars Super Orgasm blush to the balls of my cheeks. For my eyes, I use bronzer and/or my Naked eye pallet to line my eyes and shade/contour them a bit, then add mascara. I'm OBSESSED with this mascara for a night out because who has time to apply fake lashes anymore? Is that even still a thing/cute?

My finishing touches are the Anastasia Brow Wiz, Tarte eyeliner to the inner rim of my eyes, and a little lip gloss
